Today I started my first day at Exposure Promotions and first ever day as an intern. The internship is for four weeks and my job role is a showroom intern.
Exposure promotions is a creative agency that handle many areas of promotions such as PR, media, advertising etc. Its a good company with offices in America and Tokyo... http://www.exposure.net/europe/
As expected, I was very nervous/apprehensive about my first day but also very excited. I had carefully planned my outfit, carried out research on the company, made my travel arrangements so I was good to go. Having been to Exposure promotions before for an interview I was familiar with its surroundings, and so I felt at ease when I returned to there. I was greeted by the showroom manager who gave me a guided tour to Exposure promotions, and introduced me to the people that worked there. There were various other interns, so I immediately felt at ease in the knowledge that I would be working with others, and that we could help each other out.
I immediately got to work, having had the interns show me the ropes. I quickly adapted to doing the work and felt that I had picked it up well. The day went quickly and slowly at some points as there wasn't as much work to do but I was assured that this was a one-off and that I would have to expect to be rushed off my feet constantly! I did various jobs from tidying the show room to returning stock to the showroom, ordering a courier to take stock away and preparing stock to be taken to its destination. I learnt a hell of a lot in one day and can't wait to return tomorrow!
The company work with many brands from Levis, to Claires, Nike, Hobbs, Doc Martens, Hunters. It also works with high end brands like Mackintosh. It was cool to know that I had already seen there collections for this A/W and even some for S/S 2012! It was also good to know that they had an event called the Green Room about three weeks ago prior to my arrival, where celebs had attended and received free products! #thisisthelife
P.s. I slightly peed my pants a little when I saw a pair of Doc Marten shoes in a box marked "Ed Weswick". Please come and visit me at Exposure, it would make my day!
